Plot Overview:
“Escape” is set in a military camp near the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) in North Korea. It follows Sergeant Kyu Nam, who dreams of escaping his strict life in North Korea. His plans are complicated when he stops another soldier, Dong Hyuk, from fleeing. This leads to a significant encounter with Major Hyun Sang, a State Security Department officer who recognizes Kyu Nam from their childhood.
Major Hyun Sang uses this to his advantage, preventing Kyu Nam’s execution and turning him into a hero for catching a deserter. Despite this, Kyu Nam remains determined to reach South Korea.
